I clicked on the link in the Slim Server web interface that says "click to install and run Softsqueeze". My Java build is 1.5.0_04-b05 which is the latest. I did get it to run by by clicking on "Softsqueeze as an applet" clicking here link. Then after this success the webstart (standalone?) now works. I think I was having wireless issues. Everything seems A OK now. Thanks for the communication.
