Jim, 
I suggest that you start with a Raspberry Pi and HiFiBerry DAC- you end
up with a box the size of a cigarette packet that works. 
The only fly in the ointment is that the latest version was released in
August and the software hasn't caught up yet -

However, I suspect that the developers, Steen and Greg, will have it

- you need a case, SD card and power supply. The Edimax EW-7811UN
