I suspect it's a permissions problem.

Make sure squeezeplay is not running and try changing the permissions on
the jive_alsa binary as a test.

>From a terminal windows type these two commands.  The path to jive_alsa
could be different.

  sudo chmod u+s /opt/squeezeplay/bin/jive_alsa

See if you get audio now, if not, quit squeezeplay again and rename or
delete

${HOME}/.squeezeplay

You'll need to reconfigure squeezeplay before testing the audio again.
