I understand that SlimDSP is a software-based DSP that

Does SlimDSP reside entirely in the flash memory,
relying on the Ubicom CPU to do the work? Or does the
SB2 contain a conventional DSP that contains
unconventional code?
The second and third generation Squeezeboxen do not have conventional
DSP processors, rather some very clever software that takes advantage
of the main processor.
The SlimDSP code is stored in the flash memory of the player and
loaded into fast static memory dynamically as the player needs it.
That code is executed by the Ubicom CPU, which is quite
unconventional itself (an embedded 250 MIPS RISC processor with 8-way
hardware multithreading).
