For me, this service would need to be less ambitious than the Logitech one. When I started with the Squeezebox Touch, I used mysqueezebox.com a fair bit as I used a music database on my PC and that wasn't always switched on. Now, I'm using a Squeezeplug, the database is always on so all I'm now concerned about is being able to get new players or servers on to the network. I noted that when I installed LMS on the Squeezeplug, it asked me for a Logitech/Squeezebox user ID and password, so the system seems to need outside participation for me to add hardware, even if this is homemade kit.
