If I understand correctly (do I?), this setting in LMS 'File Types'
means that the conversion from FLAC to PCM is done by the SBT itself:

Also, the SBT can (normally, with original firmware) play up to 96kHz. 
But if I play a 192kHz file, that also plays.  In this case, is LMS now
down-converting to 96kHz?  And, is it now sending PCM to the SBT?

Assuming I have understood correctly what's going on, then if I install
the Extended Digital Out kernel, how can I see that the FLAC-PCM
conversion is actually being done in the SBT, rather than LMS?  And, is
it possible to inhibit LMS from doing any conversion?
