But reread his response. You shouldn't be disappointed. He said:

So your Touch could work to access music services, internet streaming,
etc. similar to mysqueezebox.com WITHOUT the use of a local server.  He
notes that you need an ickstream controller, but this just means an app
on a smart phone or tablet, etc.
