With regard to the speakers you attach to the laptop. 

I would strongly recommend some USB Active Speakers such as -

- or a USB DAC to a proper hi-fi system. A cheap but very good USB DAC
that will server the purpose is -

You can of course use cheap PC speakers but they will sound very tinny.
