this is network problem. Is the PC wired back to router or is it also on WIFI? Two WIFI hops makes network connections worse (that is, router > PC wifi and router > Touch wifi.) when you say you "added Apple airport extreme" are you now running two routers? If so, you need to turn off DCHP in one of these otherwise you have two routers handing out IP addresses and these will sometimes conflict and kick other things off the network).
