Since a couple of months, I am having network problems with my Duet,
connected via Wifi to my Router AVM Fritz!box 7490.
Symptoms are: Re-buffering, not finding the NAS-based LMS, not finding
mysqueezebox.com, or simply not playing music. It happens once a day or
every second day, most likely after several hours of inactivity. I
shutdown everything completely over night.
Some actions within the Network seem to cure it for some time, like
Choose network from Controller, Settings, Advanced, Network. The
safest way to get the Squeezebox play again is to re-start the router.
The Duet will afterwards work for a couple of hours.
I am quite a techie and have had no problems ever to solve other
network-related issues.
What I have tried without success (from forum threads)
- Restarting squeezebox
- Changing Wifi channels (there are other networks, but it connects
fine when 10 or so networks around but then loses the wifi in
situations with fewer networks)
- Encryption changes (without WPA2)
- WLAN changes (switch off a/b, g compatibility)
- Moving the squeezebox close to the router
- Reset squeezebox to factory defaults
- Prioritizing traffic to Squeezebox in Router
What makes me pessimistic: There are tons of reports of Wifi problems
for Logitech devices, with tons of tweaking suggestions, and none of the
threads I read ends with Bingo or Heureka. I have not found a
single thread where the thread starter confirmed that the problem was
solved with one measure (other than going to cable-based LAN).
So to me it seems there is a hardware of firmware problem, and people
should not waste time with the suggested tweaks. For this reason, I do
not want to turn this thread into another "try Wifi setting x" thread.
Has anyone solved the problem with switching the Logitech devices? I.e.
either with switching to another device from the same model or a
different Squeezebox? I see fewer problem reports for the Touch than
for the Radio or the Duet, is going to the Touch likely to eliminate the
problems?
Has anyobody identified why some people have problems and others don't?
