I don't get this. 

The best control app IMHO is iPeng by a country mile. It will run on any
iOS device so get a second hand iPod Touch that has wifi and job done.
It doesn't emulate Squeezeplay exactly but that doesn't matter as its
actually better. 
There isn't any Linux to learn or anything.

If you must have an SB Touch style interface then in order of simplicity
the choices are:
SB Touch
O2 Joggler
Rasp Pi with Touchscreen
I have all of these and still prefer iPeng. I use the screens more as
now playing displays then anything else.

There are also loads of Android control apps. I have tried most but none
come close to iPeng IMHO.

I can understand an aversion to using a phone but a tablet shouldn't be
an issue.
