Orange Squeeze runs fine on Android 7.0 Nougat, with a caveat. I have been running the Android 7 developer preview since May and updated to the final release on Monday, August 22. Android Nougat includes a battery optimization feature that is turned on by default. For a handful of apps, such as Google Play Services, battery optimization is turned off by default.
With battery optimization turned on (the default) and the app is hiding, Nougat disconnects Orange Squeeze from the network, even if a squeezebox is playing. Although the playlist continues to play, Orange Squeeze can't control the server. You have to close Orange Squeeze from the Recents menu and restart it. The remedy is to turn off battery optimization for Orange Squeeze: Settings > Battery, and then from the three-dot menu select Battery optimization.
