While I'm not familiar with Poweramp, my experience is that players either focus on a file/folder or a metadata-oriented approach, but not both, since they are hard to reconcile in a consistent user interface. I'd therefore suggest to try a player specifically designed for your style, e.g. ' Folder Player' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.folderplayer), or something 'similar' (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=folder%20player&c=apps). I use 'Mort Player' (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stohelit.folderplayer), which, while getting a bit old, still works well and is also folder-based.
