hi, If you want leave LMS you have plenty choice : Volumio, RuneAudio, Moode Audio, Ampache, Subsonic, ROON, Google Play Music, Plex, Sonos, Vortexbox, Daphile, Gramofon, MinimServer, max2play, and so on.
In plex the protocol is based on UPnP DLNA, LMS can do it too. For me we have to take care about the Licence and the quality of the music. Many are not open and are not free project like roon or Mininserver. Many limit to mp3 format. According to these two criteria, only LMS is suitable. Why not have LMS for the music and Plex server (or another Dlna server) for the Video ; they can be on the same computer or Nas (server) and use a player for the music (picoreplayer for example), another one for the video, or the same player for both like Kodi (in Dlna).
