I don't quite follow this.  I thought he was just asking why the
network setup wasn't in the settings section of the remote interface,
not for control from the web interface.

It seems to be a fairly common theme where folks are using a
programmable remote that can't simulate the "press and hold" thing.  I
wonder if there isn't another way of accomplishing the same thing in
the firmware - say by recognizing N presses in quick succession as
equivalent, or maybe some odd button sequence.
