Thank you very much for the tip, Chris.

This does work! I entered in "noalbumdata" as the
album name for all my files. Mp3tag makes it easy
to sort them and add this to all files without
album tags, writing it all in one step.

Then I added "noalbumdata" to the list of Common
Album Titles and rescanned.

Now when I look up "Nirvana" I get three albums:
"All Songs", "noalbumdata" and another
"noalbumdata". "All Songs" brings up exactly what
I'm looking for. Both "noalbumdata" entries being
up several hundred mismatched songs.
Surprisingly, they are different. The first
"noalbumdata" brings up "1 album with 573 songs by
226 artists" while the second one brings up "1
album with 293 songs by 130 artists". There do
not seem to be common entries between the two but
the total is a few hundred less than my total
number of songs.

However, it works. Extremely inelegant, but it works.

Developers: could there be an easier way to handle
files with No Album entered? Should I file a bug?
