Well I know very little about networks and I just installed Windows 10 last week for the first time (previously was using 8.1) and it took me less than 10 minutes to have everything working. With a router it's even easier...there are no IP settings to have to adjust like you do with a crossover cable. Windows 10 updates can now be paused for 35 days. On 8.1 the updates never messed with my network. Can't speak for Windows 10, but I run LTSC which only has security updates.
