wow, i never thought i'd see this. unlike TV, which made sense to go all digital, it seemed to me that analog FM radio would live forever, for a variety of reasons...
one wonders if digital FM broadcasting will gain enough of a foothold to actually survive? tech like 5G could supplant it b4 it ever really gets established. while i have no beef with internet radio, it just isn't the same as a quality, local, non corporate FM that focuses on the local community. i have np with business or anything like that, but one of the joys of life in America, was going on a road trip and hearing the local flavor from regional stations that were unique. unfortunately the corporate conglomertizations (sic) of the industry have ironically hastened its downfall, by making it too bland and generic and not relevant to the audience, prompting them to do podcasts, streaming, etc. imo, traditional radio broadcasting will only survive going forward serving niche audiences, that are unique and local and relevant to that listener. thats why sports talk has gotten so big for instance. a focus on community will keep the listener coming back. i know i'm singing an old man's lament, but i loved being a college radio DJ. and maybe internet broadcasting isn't so different, but i do feel like something has been lost. c'est la vie! using: win7 64 + lms 7.9 & duet & ipads w/the logitech app, and ipeng on an ipod http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/various_artists_logic & http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/compilations ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BJW's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58242 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110934 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
