Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I’m having the same issue as the
OP.

I have a 500GB usb drive which I have formatted using GParted as ext4
and MBR (I think).

I have mounted the drive in PiCoreplayer v6 and installed Samba.

I have successfully created the share using file mode 0664. I can see
the drive in Windows put don’t have any write permissions. I’d like to
create some new Directories and copy some music across.

I’m not sure of the difference between MBR and GPT so not sure if that
makes a difference?

I tried running the command ‘chmod -R tc.staff /mnt/Music’ as suggested
but I get an error chmod: invalid mode 'tc.staff'
