Im now self isolating in line with UK Govt instructions as my wife has developed the symptoms. I work from home 3 days a week anyway and my company is a 20 year old IT business where from day 1 we set things up for remote working. My main concern now is my wifes health but she is in the category where the virus should only have a mild effect. So far I have only had an odd feeling in my throat which Ive noticed for the last 2/3 days but no cough and no fever whereas she has both. Here in Cheshire there are only a handful of hospitalised cases but I suspect a fair few self isolating. This is bringing out both the best and the worst in humanity. The best is that the local FB groups are full of offers of help but the worst is that our local supermarkets have witnessed panic buying and I have personal experience of some businesses being less than keen on some of their staff working from home because they dont trust them to do so. The facts are that productivity is higher not lower. The other issue is how to deal with some customers who are likely to have real financial difficulties. Plenty of tome to consider the situation though. Perhaps too much.
