One of my favorite marketing trueisms is: "Your biggest competitor is the status quo".
I.e. the umpteen other products out there aren't squat compared to the challenge of switching the masses over from old way of doing things - CD players etc. Hmmm that would be an interesting competitive comparison to write actually....
