Thanks, Jim. Exactly as you said. Just installed LMS 8.1.2 and everything works. (Win 8.1 - LMS 8.1 -- now that seems ominous, but on the good side) Even as I was writing my previous question/problem, I had that exact thought -- it must be the program version. So thanks for the suggestion and especially for the urls.
