More control is always a plus, as long as there is a way to neutralize it if it's not wanted. For instance, I want to be certain I've set the balance back to precisely zero, not +0.2 or -0.1. That's my view. The other viewpoint is that more control = more opportunity to screw things up! It's now wrong, either.
