This is quite an interesting web site as it provides free live commentary on ALL the main UK sporting events. Not sure why it won't play via the https:// link that is inside the first redirect/playlist.m3u8 - SSL cert issue perhaps - but now have found how to play via LMS it looks like with a bit of work in advance I can listen to any match. I doubt there is any API but a plugin that could screen scrape and follow the redirects would be very interesting.
