I have a Tivoli PAL and have been using a RCA to 3.5mm from a SB
Receiver for many years with no problem. I don't use any Stereo/Mono
setting and it sounds OK.

The volume level of both SB player and Tivoli volume control might
affect quality.  I think the "best" level for each depend on which
control you'll actually be varying - LMS player control or Tivol volume
control
