Assuming you are referring to the message you see when the player looses contact with slimserver, this is generated within the player itself rather than by the server. The player firmware would need to be changed to keep the current brightness when displaying locally generated messages. All other messages are under control of the server and hence the server options referred to below can change their brightness.
