Thanks all of you. I have ordered a Raspberry Pi and will dive into the
install and enjoyment next week I hope.

I'd like and really appreciate your comments.

Could I impose once more? I just want to summarize and have you check to
see if I understand all this correctly.

- I have an SB Duet in my living room (main listening room).
- I do not have a PC to dedicate 24/7 in my main listening room (hifi
system) to run LMS and need to remedy that situation.
- I really only listen to streaming audio via Pandora and Internet radio
stations (maybe a one-day-in-the-future task will be to digitize my LPs
and stream them off a hard drive)
-The Raspberry pi is the ideal hardware device (small, cool, quiet,
capable, ships today, and inexpensive) that can work to operate my LMS
with my Duet
But...
-piCore Player is a higher-level application than the native Squeezebox
app that Duet uses, so I'll use piCore Player instead and will use my
Duet only as a remote.

I believe I can use my laptop's monitor and keyboard to set up my
Raspberry pi via plugging into my router and looking up Raspberry pi IP
address on the router. So I won't need a Raspberry keyboard and
monitor.

- There is a Raspberry pi OS and OS lite that is available from
raspberrypi.org. It seems that one uses a micro sd card to get a
download app from pc to Raspberry pi.
- Once Raspberry pi is plugged in and operational, I will download LMS
from Logitech Squeezebox and install it on the Raspberry pi.
NOTE: one respondent instructed that: "If you want your server PC to
also be a player, you install the "Local Player" plugin." I don't
exactly know what that means.
- Once the server is running, I'll download, install, and configure my
piCorePlayer to "use this instance of LMS as its server" (I don't
exactly know what that last part in quotes means).
- piCore Player will appear on my LMS as a Squeezelite player called
piCorePlayer

Question 1: will I need my Squeezebox receiver?
Question 2: Currently I am not able to connect my SB Duet Receiver or
Controller to mysb. I have a post on the Duet stream. Will that cause
problems when I attempt tp go the piCore Player route?
Question 3: Currently I use a Topping DAC. Would I line into that DAC
from my Raspberry pi? Or does Raspberry pi line in to the SB receiver
and then line into the Topping DAC?

My system consists of:
Turntable -- ProJect
CD Player -- Rotel
Streamer -- SB Duet (LMS on MacBook Air when available)
DAC -- Topping D30
Preamp -- Reference Line Preeminence One
Amp -- SAE Mark 31B
Speakers -- WOW1s

Many, many thanks.
