Thanks for the feedback everyone.
The thing that I'd been failing to do was play music, on our phones, with the Spotify app, and then select the SliMP3 or Squeezebox at the output. However, I'm in the middle of setting up a new server, so I'll try setting up LMS afresh and see how that all goes. If I have the same issues, I'll try looking at other solutions. If it all works this time, then all good.
