I can't figure out how to turn off the display backlight when the "off" button is pressed. I have a RPI 3 B+, HiFi Berry, and official RPI 7 inch touch screen. Everything works except this. Tried both 8.0 and 8.1 versions of picoreplayer.
I can set the "When off" screensaver to either "Display Off" or "Blank Screen". There doesn't seem to be any difference between the two (except oddly, when "Display Off" is set the clock is displayed when turning the unit back on). There is a setting called "Adjust display backlight brightness when off" which I thought would solve my problem. However setting this to zero brightness, kills the display and I can no longer see anything- screen is off all the time. Anyone run into similar problems?
