Hi Rob,
thanks once again for your help, I have made some progress, I replaced
the NUC as the music source, with one of my NanopiM4 SBC boards,
installed LMS and Squeezlite on it - fired it up and SUCCESS NOT ONE
JUMP !!! , so I concluded it must be the USB on the NUC causing the
problem. Reinstated the NUC as the music source but this time I used a
different USB port ( there are two on it ) and bingo it didn't jump once
- It must be a dodgy usb port - thanks again for all your help it's much
appreciated

Intel NUC i5 Debian 16gb RAM 1TB SSD -> LMS -> Squeezelite -> Sablon EVO
USB -> SRCDX -> Wave Storm BNC -> Chord Hugo MScaler -> dual BNC ->
Chord DAVE DAC -> Meridian 551 -> Monitor Audio Gold -> Me
