I posted about something similar using refurbished Amazon Fire tablets (as low as $20USD for an 8") https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?116398-Cheap-Fire-HD-Tablets The devil in the details seems to me the constant application of line power to the tablet/chrome book and it's long term affect on the battery. @RobbH has a great idea to try to setup the android app "tasker" to turn on and off a smart plug. I had planned on checking into this this winter, but winter has only started :) But, I also think it has great possibilities. It's a very "thin" (hang on the wall?) solution. I bought and converted a number of these tablet just to have a material/squeeze cntrl as a control/now playing screen hanging laying around, and found I also use them for ear bud listening as well, especially when the house is sleeping...
