You'd have to bookmark the room's player on the ePods browser (http://slimserver:9000/index.html?player=12:23:45:54:23)
2. How is the performance of the epods browser for this application, when it comes to browsing through large lists of albums and artists?
You can install slimserver without any risk (you did already, didn't you?). Just try it. The performance on the ePods won't be better or worse whether you have 100 or 1200 cds. It's browsing a web page. The server will have to work hard.
3. Is there any way to cache the album list on the epods, to improve browser performance?
Not beyond the browser's caching capability.
4. Any others words of wisdom to offer?
Just test it. Install slimserver, run Softsqueeze (included with slimserver) on the server and remote control it using the ePod.
