Depends on how your network is set up. I guess you have a router which connects all your PCs/laptops/squeezeboxes to the web. They're all linked via the network, and it's likely that a router will control all this. A commonplace way to set things up is to have each network device given an IP address by the router. But normally the address won't actually change all that much (if at all) - even if you reboot.
If the slimserver software still running on the server? Does it automatically restart when you reboot the server?
