In the mean time I learned that the bug report already existed and was fixed for 6.5.x. Lately, the fix was merged into the 6.2.x branch. Resume now works for me, there are just some glitches with the time remaining displayed. See here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19322
