the Qnap unit has been heavily discussed on these boards, along with other NAS based Slimservers (the Infrant ReadyNas 600 and X6, modified Buffalo Linkstations and a few others) i would suggest have a search round some of the forums to see what is out there. The chances are that the Maxtor unit does not have the power or memory to host a slimserver, the Qnap has been selected by Progressive Computing because it can be made to work. Not all NAS devices are made equal (the QNap TS-401 will be based round an VIA Epia x86 system, so will be considderably more powerful than most NAS units when it is released). -- funkstar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19564 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
