I tried multiple rescans to no effect, and verified that flac.exe was fine. I also tried installing 6.2.1 and an earlier 6.2.2 nightly from mid-December that had been working before. None of it helped.
Eventually I uninstalled and removed the c:\program files\slimserver directory entirely. Then I rebooted and installed the 6.2.2 nightly from mid-December. This fixed my problem.
Normally when I update to a new level, I don't uninstall the old one -- I figured the installer was taking care of that. Given this latest experience, maybe that was an incorrect assumption on my part. Of course, I'd been doing periodic updates this way since I first got my SB1, so maybe there was just some cumulative effect.
Anyway, you may want to try uninstalling and removing the old SlimServer directory entirely. This will have the side effect of losing any server and player settings, so you may want to record your current settings if you don't know them offhand.

I only use FLAC files, tagged while encoded in FLAC.
No itunes on this computer.
It seems in my case Slimserver is taking the entire file name and
treating that as the song title. Then it assumes no artist and no
album. So when I browse album for instance, all 2500 songs are under
'No Album'.
I did have a previous nightly build of 6.2.2 from either 12/26 or 12/27
that worked fine. No longer have the executable to try to re-install
that particular version though.
