Nope that is incorrect you don't need to pony up any cash as you can use the premium free 30 day trail key after installation. I have just done this and it works fine and all "premium" content is available. It makes sense - gives you chance to try it before you have to splash the cash. To be fair to the original poster the MusicMagic website is in my opinion very poor and makes it difficult to find necessary information. However it is a very cool piece of software.
