Just to be clear, I'm not downplaying the importance of gapless playback, it's one of the most important features to me as probably 80% of what I listen to needs it. I'm just suggesting that a better solution is to use a different file format rather than hacking the playback code to try and guess what to do - which in my experience rarely works perfectly.
