No problem, I just hope you get it working.

Differentiating between server and access is 
something that your software firewall does.  You 
shouldn't have to change anything in your router.

If it's the Windows XP software firewall I believe 
allowing the ports is all you need, but I have 
heard of some bugs in the Windows firewall that 
keep ports blocked even after you leave them open, 
and even after you disable the firewall.

As a semi-legal workaround :-) is there an 
unencrypted wireless connection in range?  I bet 
there's at least one "D-Link" or "linksys". 
Connect to that one and try to find your 
SlimServer.  Then see what your home devices do. 
Is your router indicating incoming traffic?  Is 
SlimServer indicating it's found a new player? 
Refresh the SS page and it should appear.

Does your firewall indicate it's blocking 
anything?  The Windows XP firewall may not though, 
and I'm not sure if it maintains logs - probably not.
