It wouldn't surprise me much.  I found the 
firmware on my SMC2804WBRP-G to be quite poor.

I could not connect my SB2, and after playing 
around with 10 firmware versions of the 20 (!) out 
there for this model, I decided to ditch it.  Some 
of these firmware versions were known to disable 
pretty fundamental things, like connectivity with 
more than one client!  Got a Linksys WRT54G. 
Worked perfectly.  Haven't looked back.

But I have an SMC2804WBRP-G for sale.  ;-)  SB 
connectivity not at all guaranteed.  ;-)
