I have a Dell Axim X30 PocketPC, similar to an HP
iPAQ. It runs Windows Mobile 2003. I don't know
what version they run now, but it's only a year old.
I'm not sure what its applications are written in
so I can't tell you. There are lots of them,
although very, very few are free or open source.
About the only thing I truly hate about Windows
Mobile 2003 is you can't exit programs! The "X"
icon just minimizes them! What were they
thinking? Fortunately mine ships with the "Dell
Switcher Bar" program which allows you to stop
programs.
I have the cheapest version so no Wi-Fi, so I'm
not using it to control SlimServer/Squeezebox, but
I tried it out once (wired through USB) using the
handheld skin and it worked nicely.
