I received my SqueezeBox 3 today from advancedmp3players.co.uk - after
having played with SoftSqueeze I was quite looking forward to the real
thing! Excitedly opened the packaging, delved through the bits and
pieces - and then found a 2 pin plug on the power supply! I'm in the UK
and the sticker on the box says it's a UK version :(

So now I have to wait till Monday before I can contact the sellers :(

Has this happened to anyone else?

The adaptor does say 100-240V, so I think it's a EU plug (the pins are
round so it's not a US one). Would I get away with just using an EU-UK
socket adaptor rather than waiting to get a replacement power supply?

That sounds like the plug we have over here on the continent.
If the adaptor says it is up to your voltage & frequency, it should work... If you have an adaptor, I would go for it. I've never had problems with any electronics that have appropriate voltage/frequency ratings with adaptors.
