Chuck, After the gaunlet of words Ben Sandee gave you just one post later, I don't blame you for eventually losing it. You wanted productive advice and didn't seem to vent at all.
I am also running Mac OS (Jaguar) on an iMac 600 mhz Graphite. I had problems immediately with slim server 6.2. I think slim devices may have even updated their download page to not include my OS as supported for the recent software revision. When it was installed, the server would start and subsequently stop. You could watch this in the system preferences screen that you use to start the server manually. I proceeded to downgrade to 6.1.1. It works fine except the skins I choose in the web interface don't seem to stick. I work around this by bookmarking the skin I want to view the interface in. Anyway, This is generally a place that you can get reasonable answers to questions you have about your device. I had the same question back in August about uninstalling the preference pane. It was answered promptly. I'm glad Slim Devices put this forum here. The slimp3 is highly reliable but I don't know everything about it. This is the only place I know of to get expert advice from users just like myself. DO you recommend revision 5.4.1? Maybe I'll give it a try. I've had this thing since 2002 and the software has been changed frequently in that time. It's possible I missed that rev. But I can tell you that 6.1.1 is pretty much reliable.
