Right,
I've given Mail::Pop3Client a trial for use with the Email plugin, and
accessing gmail accounts. The good news is that the SSL features work
like a charm. The bad news is that gmail deletes the emails from the
pop3 side of their server as soon as they are accessed. There is a
setting to keep the emails available on gmail, but this does not seem
to be the same as leaving them available for pop3.
obviously, the solution remains a mystery.
