I guess that depends on your definition of "tangibile" and the level of
security on the wireless network. When you give out advice like that
you make it sound like it's extremely difficult to crack into a
wireless network and execute a man in the middle attack, something a
fairly unskilled hacker could do on a WEP protected network in 15-20
minutes. Some people don't consider "hey, what are the chances someone
will target me?" to be real security.
You need to do a bit of research on SSL. I'm not talking about WEP -- that's securing the network and is generally worthless/flawed. SSL (as in HTTPS) is secured at the protocol level between the client and the server and as long as your bank uses SSL anyone can listen in at the network packet level (ethernet or wireless, makes no difference) and they can't crack it in their lifetime -- let alone crack it fast enough to execute a man in the middle.
