It is legacy. The plugin was provided long ago by someone from
moodlogic and later updated with the help of some free activation
credits.
As pretty much the only one who has worked on the plugin to any real
extent since those very early days, I can't see much new work being
done on it at any point. however, there ARE users who have existing
accounts and for that reason, the functionality is unlikely to just be
dropped. It would be rather unfair to them.
