I think if Slim would private label some small box with a small processor, a huge hard disk, a CD-ROM, a network interface, with a small or no fan and pre-loaded with software, it would make a huge difference.
I've floated this idea, too. I'm sure they've thought about it at SlimDevices as well. I guess they don't think it's worthwhile. I'm not enough of a businessman to be sure if it would be a money maker or not. My feeling is that it would, but again, I'm not a business expert.
