I am probably missing something, but it seems to me that, while you could alter the replaygain values on all your FLAC files by some offset, that would be no different than turning down the volume on the Squeezebox. Either way, as I understand it, the Squeezebox would do the math to reduce the volume before sending it to its digital outputs.
