I experience similar behaviour on my setup which is a Squeezebox2 and
Slimserver 6.2.1 running on an HG linkstation (266MHz processor with
128Mbytes RAM)

I generally only see it on random play.

I would assume the problem is that at the start of each song while the
buffer is filling, slimserver may be too busy worrying about what song
to place on the playlist next, and we get a buffer underrun. I'd also
assumed it was down to the relatively low processor power of the
Linkstation though I have also been pretty impressed at what it can
do...

I don't know if there's any setting anywhere which allows the user to
set a minimum ammount by which the buffer must be full at the start of
the song before the music is allowed to start?

Paul.
