Lossless and Open Source are both good, as long as the format catches on. Some do and some don't. It does seem like a good choice for storing a "master" format as is my interest. Am I understanding you correctly that things like WMP or RealPlayer can do a client-side format conversion through a plug-in that is transparent to the user? That is, the server would send the file in FLAC format, and the client computer does the conversion on the fly, as opposed to having the server do it. -- DrJ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ DrJ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22854 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
